The FBI is reportedly interviewing Payton Gendron’s parents, the white supremacist teen who killed ten people at a Buffalo supermarket on Saturday, according to law enforcement sources. Both civil engineers Paul and Pamela Gendron, who work for the state Department of Transportation, are assisting in the investigation.

From his home in Conklin, New York, where his family resides, the couple’s 18-year-old son allegedly traveled 200 miles to the Buffalo Tops Friendly Market, where the killing took place. Payton extensively investigated the neighborhood’s demographics in order to target a predominantly black neighborhood. According to Terry Place, Pamela Gendron used to stroll down their peaceful street in the mornings.

According to a preliminary investigation, Payton Gendron frequently visited websites that promoted white supremacist ideologies and racial conspiracy theories and thoroughly researched the 2019 mosque shootings in Christchurch, New Zealand, and the man who murdered dozens of people at a summer camp in Norway in 2011, authorities said.

White guy Payton S. Gendron, who was 18 years old when the crime was committed and whose birth date was June 20, 2003, was the shooter. Conklin, New York, his hometown, was some 200 miles (320 km) away, and it had taken him three and a half hours to get there.

After graduating from Susquehanna Valley High School, Gendron enrolled in an engineering science program at SUNY Broome Community College in Binghamton. According to his neighbors, both of his parents are civil engineers, and he has previously shown a desire to follow in their footsteps.  Per what some of his classmates who spoke with The New York Times, he was shy, infrequently showed up for in-person classes, displayed a variety of odd behaviors, and frequently wore a hazmat suit to class.
