She’s a YouTuber who ran the now-defunct family YouTube channel “8 Passengers”. The channel, launched in early 2015 chronicled the lives of Ruby, her husband, Kevin, and their six children.

The channel quickly grew a following as people tuned in to see the family and eventually hit over 1 million subscribers in August 2017.

Ruby gained global recognition in recent years after followers of the now-deleted ‘8 Passengers’ YouTube channel she co-ran with her husband started to suspect the two were abusing their six children.

The “8 Passengers” vlogger, Franke hit major headlines following his arrest on Wednesday, 30 August 2023. She was arrested and detained on charges of child abuse.

The arrest took place following the discovery of a malnourished minor with open wounds and duct tape on their limbs by police.

Franke’s business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt, was also arrested on the same charges. Both were accused of two charges of second-degree severe child abuse, whether intentional or unintentional.

According to reports, a minor reportedly escaped from a Jodi Hildebrandt home’s window and walked to a neighbor’s home to inquire about food and drink.

The neighbor saw duct tape wrapped around the child’s wrists and ankles. The child appeared severely undernourished and in poor health hence called the police.

After the first child was taken to the hospital by the police, another child was discovered in Hildebrandt’s home and was found to be malnourished, with open wounds as well.

After a thorough search and questioning, four more minor children were taken into the care of the Department of Child and Family Services, according to the press release.
