Tacko Fall is a Senegalese professional basketball player who has represented the Boston Celtics (2019–2021) and the Cleveland Cavaliers (2021–2022) in the National Basketball Association (NBA), as a center. He has also turned out for the Maine Red Claws (2019–2020) and the Cleveland Charge (2021–Present) in the NBA G League, the NBA‘s official minor league basketball organization. He was selected in the ‘NBA G League All-Defensive Team’ in 2020. At 7 ft 6 in (228.5 cm), he was among the 50 tallest people alive in the world in February 2022 and the tallest player in the NBA or any of its associated leagues.

Born and raised in Dakar, Senegal, Tacko’s life changed in 2011 when Senegalese basketball coach Ibrahima N’Diaye, the brother of former NBA player Mamadou N’Diaye, had spotted his talent.

Ibrahima had then convinced Tacko’s mother to allow him to start attending his basketball academy and had eventually persuaded her to send him to the United States, which his mother had agreed to when he was 16.

While playing basketball for Jamie’s House Charter School, he had helped his team win the state championship.

In 2017, he was named the ‘American Athletic Conference (AAC) Defensive Player of the Year’.

In April 2017, he had declared for the 2017 NBA Draft but had withdrawn his name in late May 2017 to return to his college (junior year).

At the 2019 NBA Draft Combine (a multi-day showcase that takes place every May before the annual NBA Draft in June), he had set all-time NBA records for the greatest height in shoes (7 ft 7 in (2.31 m)), the longest wingspan (8 ft 2.25 in (250 cm)), and the highest standing reach (10 ft 2.5 in, (3.11 m)).
