Karl-Heinz Urban is an actor from New Zealand. His acting career got off to a good start with roles in New Zealand movies and TV shows including Xena: Warrior Princess. In the 2002 horror movie Ghost Ship, he played his first Hollywood part.

New Zealand’s Wellington is where Urban was born. His mother originally worked for Film Facilities in Wellington, while his father, a German immigrant, had a business selling leather goods.

Urban debuted in Hollywood in the slasher film Ghost Ship from 2002. Since then, he has contributed to a number of well-known movies, including The Bourne Supremacy (as agent Kirill of the Russian Federal Security Service), The Chronicles of Riddick, Star Trek, and Doom. In The Two Towers and The Return of the King, the second and third installments of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, he portrayed Éomer.

In the Amazon Prime series The Boys, Urban has played William “Billy” Butcher since 2019.
